2/21/2017 0 Comments MEMORYBLURRED AND OBSCURED My next project explored memories. I was initially inspired by old photographs of my granny in her garden, often surrounded by flowers and sat on her garden bench. My Granddad still used a camera which took square format images which often came out blurred or imperfect in some way and I just love the nostalgia they evoke. With such a great starting point, I wanted to reflect the concept of memory in my work and took a series of photographs using different methods of obscuring flowers and creating double exposures with my granny's original bench (which we still have in our garden today.) It's interesting to see the benches deterioration over time, a metaphor for memory. Deep purples and vivid greens and yellows were key colours in my developmental work which led to a final paper based collection.
