It had a very autumnal feel, with a very muted colour palette (which evolved over the course of the project). I focused on skeletal and cellular structures from nature as well as the shapes and textures of shells and fossils. The sandy cliffs in Weybourne, Norfolk were a great starting point. I gathered weathered shells which had beautiful rich tones and textural qualities that translated well through knit and embroidery and eventually print. The project became more abstract as it evolved, moving away from the earthy tones to fresher, contemporary colours.
